RETAIL STORE EXPERIENCES SIGNIFICANT BREAK-IN

Our client owns a retail bike shop operating out of multiple locations within Australia. The retailer has recently experienced several break-ins. The most recent occurred early one Sunday morning, with intruders forcing their way into one of the stores. They used a sledgehammer to break the security doors, damage the bicycle racks, and steal several bicycles.

The client notified us the following day and, shortly after, provided us with our requested documents: CCTV footage, police report, photos, stock listing of stolen items, and approximate cost for repairs to damaged doors and racking.

OUTCOME

We submitted the insurance claim the same day as the documents were received, using our unique claims format to make the process easy for the insurer to review and decide on coverage. A week later, the insurer paid the claim for all damage sustained and the stock values of the stolen items, totalling over $21,000.

Our clients often experience quick settlements due to our claims management process and our claims team at Tresidders.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • If you own a business, ensure you have security cameras installed, as this provides evidence for the claim. It also pays to install small cloak devices as these omit smoke, making it more difficult for intruders.

  • To minimise interruption to your business, ensure you keep the necessary paperwork.
